The Healing Trauma Network Directory

The Healing Trauma Network Directory

The Healing Trauma Network is a directory of Trauma Healing Professionals for individuals who struggle with addictions, PTSD, attachment issues, and childhood developmental trauma. It promotes the continued growth and use of Pia Mellody’s Post Induction Therapy (PIT) and Healing Our Core Issues Model (HOCI) in private practices of clinicians in the United States and other countries.

The premise of PIT and HOCI is that childhood trauma (defined as anything less than nurturing) is the origin of developmental immaturity. Recovery from childhood developmental trauma involves both energetically releasing the toxic emotions left over from these painful childhood experiences and learning to re-parent the Self by intervening with these historical adaptive states which are defined as adult symptoms of childhood trauma.

Pia Mellody is recognized internationally as an authority on childhood trauma, co-dependence, and addiction. She has created a framework for identifying codependent thinking, emotions, and behavior and provides an effective approach to recovery by using experiential trauma work.

What is Post Induction Therapy?

What is Post Induction Therapy?

Post Induction Therapy for Developmental Immaturity Treatment (formerly known as co-dependence) and the Healing Our Core Issues model are therapy modalities designed to treat the effects of childhood trauma and resulting issues of developmental immaturity.

These strategies were developed by Pia Mellody through her work at The Meadows inpatient treatment center. Pia Mellody, a survivor of childhood trauma, found the conventional treatment strategies in the 1970’s inadequate in meeting her needs and the needs of her clients. As a result, she devised strategies, which assisted her own recovery. She practiced these strategies on herself. Subsequently, these methods were shared with other survivors of childhood trauma who were at The Meadows and were received with great success.

These modalities, which are the core of Post Induction Therapy and Healing Our Core Issues model are an eclectic approach that uses individual and group therapy. They were drawn from psychoanalytic therapies, Gestalt, Family Systems Theory, Transactional Analysis, Rational Emotive Therapy, Attachment Theory, and the concepts of Erik Erikson and Carl Rogers.

Many helping professionals who have trained in this model currently use the PIT treatment model or the HOCI model in their private practices. These therapists help their clients learn to deal with trauma and its effects on their daily lives. Many of these professionals also offer workshops through their private practices that use the PIT or HOCI methodology. These workshop intensives are based on the treatment model developed by Pia Mellody called “Survivors”.
